Ray Stewart is a scientist, manager, and entrepreneur with a successful track record in conducting breakthrough applied research, and creating and growing new business ventures. Prior to establishing Bay Materials, Mr. Stewart was the founder and chief scientist of Landec Corporation, a public company that successfully developed and commercialized a new class of temperature responsive polymers, Intelimers®, and products enabled by them. As the founder of Landec, Mr. Stewart initially led business development, venture capital financing activities, and technical efforts.
Mr. Stewart also led the development of new materials and products in diverse markets including food packaging, agricultural products, industrial adhesives, and medical devices. Before founding Landec Corporation, Mr. Stewart was a scientist at Raychem Corporation, a Fortune 500 materials science company.

Jim Reed brings twenty-eight years experience in business activity, ranging from start-up incubators to mature global entities. Mr. Reed has a proven track record in managing the development of technology, products, and markets. He also has expertise in the formation, evaluation, and management of teams, organizations, and new business opportunities.
Prior to Bay Materials, Mr. Reed was an independent business development consultant, leading clients in the “creation of value” through business development, encompassing strategy, opportunity appraisal, organization development, acquisition of technology, and standardization of processes.

Aimee Luthringer joined Bay Materials in 2001 as the Quality Systems Manager. She develops and maintains our manufacturing Quality System and provides feedback upstream to improve manufacturing processing and yields.
In addition to Quality Management, Aimee coordinates raw material and manufacturing production planning. She forecasts material needs and processing timelines to ensure the delivery of on-time, high quality products. Aimee has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg Florida.

Amar Devi is our Office Manager, responsible for bookkeeping, accounting, human resources and general office management; protection of Bay Materials is her domain. Amar is infinitely organized and extremely efficient - although somewhat shy and retiring, except when a vendor doesn't deliver. She supports Jim Reed in the smooth financial operation of the company and all other employees in a myriad of ways.
She has over 5 years of experience in QuickBooks and 10 + years of office administration/executive assistance experience. Prior to joining Bay Materials she has worked for high-tech companies in the bay area gaining significant regional familiarity and relevant skills. Amar Devi is originally from Fiji, and is certified in Quickbooks and Century 21 Accounting.

Kathryn is a Senior Project Engineer, currently responsible for the development of firmware and software for hydration sensor products. Tasks include the management of internal engineers and external vendors in the MEMS and electronics areas.
Other areas of responsibility include Office and Laboratory IT systems and custom software and instrument modification for on-line colorimeter and process control systems.
Prior to working at Bay Materials, Kathryn's varied experience includes Operations Engineer for an electricity generator; Systems Analysis in the Financial Industry and management of her own PC manufacturing company.

Aaron is a lab technician, webmaster, IT worker and staff generalist for Bay Materials. He graduated from Rensselaer with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.
He is usually found exhorting the benefits of (and installing/configuring) collaborative knowledge tools, assisting various laboratry projects, resolving and preventing IT problems, or programming.

Johnny is a Product Development Engineer, and is responsible for micro-sensor fabrication, testing and data analysis as well as process development for hydration sensor products. He also acts as a Facilities Engineer, responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of Bay Materials’ facilities and manages an in-house machine shop which designs and fabricates fixtures/jigs for Bay Materials' internal use as well as for the benefit of Bay Materials clients.

Nathan is Bay Materials’ R&D Technician. His responsibilities include developing and manufacturing of polymer solutions. He also has experience in manufacturing processes and thermal designs.

John is a Senior Process Engineer with 25 years experience in new product development, materials development, materials selection, and process definition and optimization. He conducts materials development and formulation studies on small scale batch mixes for various applications including dental, pharmaceutical, electronics, adhesives, and composites.
John applies his polymer processing expertise to developing compound scale-up processes and to shaping polymers into final products or prototypes through extrusion, injection molding, thermoforming, or other processes.
In addition, John has extensive experience in evaluating the rheological properties of materials and characterizes the thermal, mechanical and spectroscopic properties of prototype parts as necessary.

Debi Dunson is Staff Scientist at Bay Materials, specializing in the research, development, and analysis of polymers and materials. Debi is responsible for developing tests and conducting analyses of materials to evaluate properties, quality, process capability, and performance. These analytical methods include thermal, rheological, mechanical, and spectroscopic instrumentation.
Since joining Bay Materials, Debi has successfully launched, operated, and maintained the thermal analysis lab, including DMA, DSC, and TMA. She has expertise in designing thermal analysis experiments for evaluating polymer properties, and has extensive experience in analyzing thermoplastic films, semicrystalline polymers, waxes, thermosets, hydrogels, and adhesives.
